Surveyor PDA Plus Detector Hardware Manual
Thermo Scientific
Recommended Maintenance
lists recommendations for routine maintenance of the Surveyor PDA Detector. Use
the table as a basis for developing your maintenance program in accordance with the practices
of your company.

Recommended Routine Maintenance
Procedure
Interval
Cleaning External Surfaces
As needed
LightPipe flow cell Cleaning
As needed
*
*
Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) dictates that the flow cell should be flushed with clean solvent after every use.
This practice reduces the frequency with which you need to clean your flow cell.
Wavelength Calibration
After lamp replacement or as needed
Dark Current Calibration
(Calibrating the dark current increases the
linearity of the detector at the high end of its
operating range. The dark current does not
significantly affect absorbance values between
0.2 AU and 0.8 AU. The dark current is a
function of temperature.)
After 100 hours of use or monthly,
whichever comes first
After significant changes (>4
C) in
ambient room temperature
After lamp replacement

Operation Verification
Semi-annually
Lamp Replacement
• Deuterium (D2)
Every 1000 hours or as required
• Tungsten (W)
Every 2500 hours or as required
Adjust Attenuators
As needed
Update Firmware
As needed and as updates become
available
