Replacing the Ion Source Components



To replace the ion source components and reinsert the ion source cartridge into the
ISQ 7000 mass spectrometer

1. Place the ion volume-repeller insulator on the repeller and hold it in place with the

repeller nut. Set it aside for now.

2. Insert the ion cartridge sleeve into the source holder.

Note

Excessive wear due to cleaning of the repeller can cause the repeller to fit loosely in

the ceramic insulator. Make certain that the repeller is concentric in the insulator before
tightening the repeller nut so that the repeller does not electrically short to the ion
volume.
