The ion source parts are assembled the same way as in

“Replacing the Ion Source

Components”

page 46

up until Lens 2, although you may use gloved hands instead of the

source holder.

1. Slide the AEI ion volume insulator over the AEI ion volume. Be sure to align the notch in

the insulator with the step on the ion volume. See

Figure 78

2. Insert the AEI ion volume with insulator into the Advanced EI ion source cartridge. Be

sure that the opening for the column is exposed in the slot of the Advanced EI ion source
