SAFETY
WARNING: FOR YOUR PROTECTION, ALWAYS UNPLUG THE UNIT FROM THE POWER
SOURCE BEFORE INSTALLING OR SERVICING. SHOULD THE UNIT APPEAR TO BE NOT
WORKING, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REACH, REMOVE, OR DISASSEMBLE BEFORE DISCON-
NECTING IT FROM THE POWER SOURCE.
1. ALWAYS use a properly grounded AC outlet. Do not immerse the ClearSolution™ filter’s plug in
water or attempt to use a wet plug.
2. Provide a “drip loop” for the power cord. This is a loop in the cord below the level of the receptacle
or plug that prevents water from traveling along the cord in the direction of the receptacle.
3. Be sure that a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) is installed in the branch circuit supplying the
pond equipment.
4. NEVER remove the ground pin from the plug.
5. The filter is not suitable for use in swimming pools, swimming ponds, or other situations where
humans may make bodily contact with the water.
6. The power cable cannot be replaced. If the power cable becomes damaged, the filter should be
discarded.
7. Avoid contact with the UV-C light. Light omitted can be harmful to the eyes and skin. To avoid
overheating do not run the bulb if the filter is not submerged in water.
IMPORTANT: The Pond Guy®, Inc. is not responsible for losses, injury or death result-
ing from a failure to follow these safety precautions, misuse or abuse of equipment.

INSTALLATION
This filter is designed to be run 24 hrs a day. Operating this unit any less may result
in poor water quality.
After you have connected the appropriate fountain head and/or diverter
valve your filter is ready for operation. Simply place the filter directly in the pond and connect the
power cord for pump and UV into a power outlet. For best results the filter should be placed on a
flat surface away from sludge or algae mats. Once in the pond, adjust fountain nozzle assembly so
the fountain spray is vertically upright.
MAINTENANCE
Step 1
(Servicing the Filter)
:
Unplug the filter and remove it from the pond. Unscrew the
diverter and fountain assembly (Figure A) then remove the
cover by unlocking the filter housing at the opposite end of
the filter (See figure B). You will not be able to service the filter
until the diverter valve and/or fountain head is removed.
Step 2
(Cleaning the Filter)
:
The amount of fish in your pond will determine how
frequently you will need to clean your filter. Clean the filters
simply by using pond water to rinse the filter sponge and
bio media (if needed). Do not use chlorinated tap water or
detergents (See Figure C).
Step 3
(Cleaning the Pump)
:
Always clean the filter first and check flow rate
before cleaning the pump.
Remove pump from filter
housing (See Figure D). Turn the front of the pump housing
counterclockwise, extracting the impeller, be careful not to
lose any internal parts (See figures E & F). Wash all parts with
clean water and check for wear or debris that would reduce
water flow. After the pump is cleaned replace all parts paying
close attention to proper placement of all components.
Step 4
(Cleaning UV Glass Tube/Changing UV-C Bulb)
:
The glass tube where the UV-C bulb is housed should be
kept clean. If debris or calcium is allowed to build-up on
the glass tube it will greatly reduce the effectiveness of the
UV-C bulb. Remove the UV unit from the filter housing and
unscrew the wired cap counterclockwise (See figures G &
H). After removing the cap (careful not to touch bulb with
bare hands to avoid finger prints) you can then remove the
glass tube from the UV unit by twisting the top half from the
bottom half (See figures I & J). Clean glass tube with a soft
cloth or sponge (See figure K). If you are replacing your bulb,
be sure to remove the bulb by pulling on the base of the bulb
(See figure L) and not the glass. Replace glass tube and bulb
carefully so a watertight seal will be made.
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ
The filter should not be operated if there is a chance of water
freezing. If you are in a climate where water freezes, drain the
filter and bring into and area where it can be protected from
freezing temperatures.
