C602/C606 Chipset
Built upon the functionality and capability of the Intel
®
E5-2600 V2 Series Processor
(X9DR3 & X9DRH)(Socket R) and the PCH C602 Chipset, or the Intel
®
E5-2400
V2 (X9DBL)(Socket B2) and the PCH C602/C606 Chipset. RES-XR4-3U provides
the performance required for dual processor-based high-end systems, including opti-
mal configuration options for communications, high-end CAD systems, or database
applications. RES-XR4-3U supports up to two E5-2600-series or two E5-2400-
series Intel
®
64-bit Xeon processors. Both processor families are of the Sandy
Bridge microarchitecture and support, HT (Hyper-Threading), up to 3.5 GHz and
12-cores (E5-2600) and 2.5 GHz and 10-cores (E5-2400), up to 30 MB L3 cache,
Virtualization, Turbo Boost, 2-way processing, and QPI (Quick Path Interconnect)
of up to 8.0 GT/s. The Intel
®
chipset(s) consists of:
• the Intel
®
C602 chipset, or
• the Intel
®
C606 chipset
With the Intel
®
QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) controller built in the processor, the
C602/C606 Series Processor platform offers point-to-point serial interconnect inter-
face with CPU-to-CPU transfer speeds of up to 8.0 GT/s, providing fast speeds, and
excellent system performance. The Intel
®
E5-2600 CPU has two QPI links, and the
Intel
®
E5-2400 CPU has one QPI link.
The C602/C606 chipsets support up to 8x1 PCI Express ports, single 32-bit 33 MHz
PCI bus, and DMI for the processor(s). The PCH provides up to (total number repre-
sents chipset capability and does not necessarily represent actually motherboard
specs) 14 USB 2.0, 2 SATA/SAS 1.5/3/6 Gbits + 6 SATA/SAS 1.5/3 Gbit/s connec-
tions, Integrated LAN, Integrated Graphics (C606), and Active Management Tech-
nology 7.1 (C606). In addition, the Intel
®
C602/C606 platforms also offer a wide
range of RAS (Reliability, Availability and Serviceability) features. These features
include memory interface ECC with double-bit error detection, Cyclic Redundancy
Check (CRC), parity protection, out-of-band register access via SMBus, memory
mirroring, memory sparing, and Hot-plug support on the PCI-Express Interface.
