Maintenance
Warning:
Before performing any maintenance, unplug the tool from the power source.
Changing the hydraulic oil
(Please see previous pages for recommended
hydraulic oil.)
1. Make sure that the log pusher (B) is fully
withdrawn.
2. Unscrew the dip stick and remove it
completely together with the O-ring oil
seal (Fig 6).
3. Place a container under the log splitter that can hold at least 4 Litre of oil.
Afterwards tip the machine in order to empty the oil into the container.
4. Tip the log splitter the other way, with the oil fill/drain port up. By using a clean
funnel you shall fill with a suitable quantity of fresh hydraulic oil. Be sure to use only
clean and high quality hydraulic oil specifically made for this purpose.
5. Clean the oil stick and insert it in the fuel tank in order to make sure that the oil level
is between the two marks on the oil stick.
6. Clean the oil stick and O-ring thoroughly and reinstall. Be careful not to damage the
threads of the aluminium oil cover.
Recycling:
Make sure to dispose the dirty oil properly. Bring it to your local waste oil recycling centre.
Never dump it on the ground or mix it with trash.
Waste electrical products must not be disposed of with the household waste.
This tool should be taken to your local recycling centre for safe treatment
Refilling of hydraulic oil
Please inspect the oil level periodically. The level must be in between the two markings
on the oil stick. If the oil level is too low, you shall refill by using a recommended oil.
Sharpening the wedge
After long periods of operation and when it is required, you must sharpen the wedge by
using a fine-toothed file and carefully remove any burrs or flat spots on the wedge.
