How the Tetra

tec

®

UV 400 works

The clarifier works by exposing
microorganisms to very high levels of
ultra violet light as the water contain-
ing them is pumped through the unit.
The UV radiation damages the DNA
and causes it to split into two sepa-
rate helices which results in the cell’s
death.  This will help prevent disease
outbreaks since free-swimming
stages of parasites, bacteria, algae
and fungi will be destroyed. However,
the UV Clarifier will not adversely
affect fish or the beneficial nitrifying
bacteria and algae attached to the fil-
ter bed, gravel and aquarium walls.
