6.2 Towing/Retrieving
In the event that the PT-60 needs to
be towed or retrieved, it will not roll
freely. You must perform the following
procedure in order to pull it to safety.
1.
Locate the drive motor (as
shown in figure 6.2-1) in each
undercarriage.
2.
Thoroughly clean each drive
motor to prevent dirt or debris
from entering the drive motor.
3.
To release the brakes, loosen the
cover plate screws (items 13,
fig 6.2-1, 6.2-2), in a star pattern
across the cover plate one full
turn each. Then repeat until the
bolts have been backed out two
full turns.
4.
Once both brakes have been
released, the machine may be
towed to safety.
5.
Carefully pull the machine to safety. Remove wheel chocks prior to towing.
Once the needed repairs have been made, reverse the above procedure to restore
the machine to normal operating status.

6.2-1
Holding Brake (Multi-Disc Brake)
Mounting
By way of rear housing (2) and brake shaft (16).
Brake application
Often in mobile applications there is a safety requirement to ensure the
motor cannot turn when the machine is not in use. The parking brake pro-
vides holding torque by means of discs (11) that are compressed by a disc
spring (10). The brake is released when oil pressure is applied to brake port
“Z” and the pressure in the annular area (9) compresses the disc spring
allowing the brake discs to turn independently.
Note: This brake is provided solely for static use - not to be used dynami-
cally.
Manual release of holding brake:
The brake may also be released manually by loosening screws (13).
6.2-2
Tool: 5mm hex key
(13)
Use only chains that are rated for pulling a machine of this size and
weight. Attach these chains to
at least two of the D-rings
in the front or
rear of the machine.
Make sure the engine is off
and the key has been
removed from the ignition to avoid
accidental start.
Use wheel chocks at the ends of
each undercarriage to prevent the
machine from rolling while the
brakes are being released.
