For  3G  SDI  loopback  test,  there  are  two  test  cases  because  the  SDI  chips  are  bi-direction  chips. 

 

shows the data path for CASE 1 loopback test. In this case, the first 3G-SDI chip is configured as 
output mode and the second SDI chip is configured as input mode. A BNC to BNC cable is used to 
loopback the SDI signal from  one  BNC connector to  another.

shows  the data path  for 

CASE  2  loopback  test.  It  is  the  complete  reverse  of  CASE1  where  the  first  3G-SDI  chip  is 
configured as input mode and the second SDI chip is configured as output mode.
