TIP REPLACEMENT
•
Replacing the tip should only be done when the iron is switched off and at room
temperature.
•
The tip can be changed or replaced by unscrewing the knurled nut barrel.
Caution
: Damage could occur if the iron is left on without the tip inserted.
•
After removing the tip, blow out any remaining oxide dust that may have formed in
the tip retaining area of the barrel.
Warning
: Care should be taken to avoid getting dust in your eyes.
•
Replace the tip and tighten the knurled nut barrel assembly with your fingers.
•
Pliers should only be used to tighten the nut if loosening occurs when the iron is
hot.
•
Do not over tighten the nut as the element could be damaged.
CLEANING
•
Cleaning should only be done when the station is switched off and the irons are at
room temperature.
•
The iron may be cleaned with a damp cloth and a small amount of liquid detergent
if necessary.
•
Never submerse the soldering iron in liquid or allow any liquid to enter the station.
•
Do not use any chemicals, abrasives or solvents that could damage the soldering
irons or the station casing.
Calibration method
•
Both parts of the soldering station have a user calibration potentiometer to make
adjustment if the displayed temperature is inaccurate after any maintenance or tip
replacement has been performed.
•
Set the temperature to 200
o
C and tin the tip as in a working condition, then using a
test meter temperature probe, measure the actual tip temperature.
•
To adjust the display to read accurately using an appropriate insulated screwdriver
and turn the potentiometer accessible through the access hole marked CAL.
Temperature Scale
•
To change the display from Celsius to Fahrenheit hold the SET button down while
switching on the power.
SYSTEM SETTING
De-Soldering IC’s
•
Attach the most suitably sized nozzle for the size of the IC to the tool.
•
Adjust the temperature to the required setting and wait a few seconds for the
actual temperature to be reached.
•
Use only one hand to hold the hot air tool and one to hold a suitable pick-up wire
tool.
•
Place the pick-up wire under the IC pins.
•
Put the nozzle over the IC, do not touch the IC or it’s pins with the nozzle.
•
When the hot air melts the solder tin on the IC pins, lift the pick-up wire to remove
the IC.
