Handheld GPS/GSM Tracker GH120x
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) v1.5 rev.05
This is minimal GH configuration for Web Application. All other parameters can be as
default.
After configuration is done, put device in the place with a good sky visibility. Device will
start looking for the GPS signal from the satellites. After good signal is received, device will
calculate coordinates and will send it to the Server. With the configuration described
above, device will collect and will send coordinates to the Server every 30 seconds. If data
transfer was successful – in Web Application you will see the results (position on the map).
If GPS signal is poor and coordinates are not calculated – there won’t be any data transfer
through GPRS. In this case, you can start Alarm function and device will send data to the
Server even without coordinates.
1.4.
Can I connect GSM modem to GPS Assistant and receive data from GH120X through
GPRS?
No. When GSM modem is connected, GPS Assistant communicates with GH120X only
through SMS, but not through GPRS.
1.5.
What is minimal time period for coordinate’s transmission through GPRS?
GPRS Send period can be set to 5 seconds or more. It will guarantee that data
transmission will be done without problems. Parameter can be set even less than 5
seconds, but then there can be delays if device is busy with other tasks.
2. GH120X FUNCTIONALITY
2.1.
How can I use NMEA function?
When NMEA function is started, GH120X sends NMEA code to the USB output. NMEA
function works only when device is connected to PC through USB cable. If cable will be
unplugged – function will stop automatically. This function helps to analyze how GPS
receiver is working or shows device position on mapping software real-time.
For GPS receiver evaluation you can use VisualGPS or any other software which is
parsing NMEA code.

For real-time positioning you can use any mapping software, which supports NMEA code
parsing (i.e. MS Autoroute, MS Map Point, etc.).
