Short Deployment Test
This test will deploy the DVS in air for a fixed period of time. The goal is to verify that the
file size of the resulting data file is correct and that data can be displayed in
WinADCP
after being converted from the DVS reduced format PD20 to WorkHorse ADCP standard
PD0 format.
To deploy the DVS:
1. Open a new text file with Windows® Notepad (
).
2. Copy [CTRL+C] and then Paste [CTRL+V] all the commands provided in the Ap-
pendix A into this text file.
3. Save the file as
Test_IMM_DVS_PostUpgrade.txt
.
4. Connect the Surface Modem Test Box to your computer.
5. Loop a conductor through the DVS inductive modem and the surface inductive
modem (not supplied) connected to a computer. Power can be supplied either
from the battery pack or from an external supply via the test cable. If the DVS is
sealed for deployment, then power must be supplied from the battery pack.
6. Run
BBTalk
.
7. Select 9600bds.
8. Enable
Echo Characters
option.
9. Switch the Surface IMM Power switch ON.
10. Press
F2
on your keyboard and select the Script file you have just created
Test_IMM_DVS_PostUpgrade.txt
.
11. Click
OK
.
12. The script file will run for about 10minutes. In the bottom right corner of
BBTalk
the
F2:SCRIPT
text will be blinking for as long as the script is running. As a result
the DVS will deploy itself for a few seconds. You will need to:
•
Verify the size of the obtained file is 1024bytes. Look for this line close to the
end of the script:
•
At the end of the script, the
F2:SCRIPT
text will stop blinking. At that point
you will need to go to the next step.
