Basic Installation

Networking Tips & Troubleshooting

The following tips may help you to make or improve your network connections,
and to optimize your system performance.

Connecting to the

Mainframe

If you cannot establish a communication link between the controller and the
mainframe, do the following:

Bring up the DOS window on the controller and enter

ipcon

If the above address is not returned, enter

ipcon

g release

and then

ipcon

renew

Press the

Next

button on the front panel of the TLA7016 until the IP address

is displayed. Use this address to ping the mainframe from the controller.

NOTE.

You may need to disable the

rewall before performing the ping test.

Enter

ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

(the IP address of the mainframe). The

mainframe should reply to the command. (See Figure 32.)

If you get a reply using the ping command, yet cannot see the mainframe in
the con

guration dialog box, check to see if a

rewall is enabled.

Use the

tracert

command to display the path of the data packets from the

controller PC to the mainframe. (See Figure 33.)
