1-3. Using a Parallel Port Connection
This section describes how to connect and configure a local Phaser 350 printer.
1-3.1. Connecting the Printer
Use the following procedure to connect the Phaser 350 printer to a WEStation
through the WEStation parallel port:
1. Use an appropriate cable or adaptor to connect the Phaser 350 printer to the
parallel port in the back of the WEStation. The following parts are available
from Tektronix:

Parallel cable (Part number 012-1468-00)
36-pin high-density plug to 25-pin DSUB plug
3 meters (9.84 feet)
•
Parallel adaptor (Part number 013-0299-00)
Converts 36-pin low-density 1284-B plug to 36-pin high-density 1284-C
plug
2. Confirm that the two dip switches (Switch 1 - Service; and Switch 2 - Reset) in
the back of the printer are in the Up position.
Leave the Service switch in the Up position.
The Reset switch can be used to reset the printer. To reset the printer, put Switch
2 in the Off (down) position and then turn it back to the On (up) position.

3. For printing operations that use a UNIX spooling system, use the Solaris
Admintool) (refer to Step 4 through Step 9).
4. From a command tool prompt, become Superuser and invoke the “admintool”
program:
