General Options
Sync Hold Time
The time with no satellites visible (or – in the case of synching via IRIG-B input – the time with
no signal) that will pass before the NTS01 releases the “sync” relay, and indicates loss of sync.
In areas with poor GPS coverage there may be rare times when no satellites can be tracked. The
Sync Hold feature allows the NTS01 to maintain its outputs under these conditions. Accuracy is
maintained to within a few micro-seconds for black-out periods of around a minute, and to
within 200uS for periods up to the maximum settable time of 42.5 minutes.
In typical Network Time Synchronisation situations using NTP, time syncing to better than
0.5mS is not practical due to network constraints, so setting the Sync Hold number to the
maximum tolerance (representing 42.5 minutes) would be quite in order, as even in this worst
case, NTS01 performance is more than adequate.
