While the transmitter is on, place the sliding
switch
to position [REF] and read at the right
meter on the upper scale
This is the Standing
Wave Ratio (Picture 2)
ing for an improvement in the SWR, than outwards if
no improvement is noticed. Select
a
center channel
at the transmitter for the measurements.
At the left meter it is
to read the relative
output power of the transmitter.
If the SWR is above 2 : 1 the Antenna may need
tuning or there may be a problem in the antenna
system (connectors).
Abnormally high measured power, above the rated
power of the transmitter could indicate a faulty an-
tenna system. Check all connectors for unsatisfac-
tory connections.
Several antennas provide a means for tuning by ei-
ther a slide adjustment or a control at the base. For
sliding antennas, sliding
each time and repeat-
ing the SWR measurement steps after each adjust-
ment. First moving the antenna inwards and watch
Field Strength Measurement
This meter has a function
a
receiver,
which detect radiated, energy from the radio-
antenna. The energy will picked up by a small
whip antenna
The sensitivity of the field
strength meter
can be adjusted by the CAL-
control CD. For
field strength measurement the
meter must be disconnected from the antenna
feed
placed close to the radio-antenna.
Do not touch the small antenna of the meter to
the ratio-antenna at the test.
Turn on the transmitter and adjust with the CAL-
control the pointer of the right meter to a center
position. It may be necessary to
the
meter to
an indication.
