Settings

MCK (Master clock)

This setting mode selects the word sync or master clock mode.

<

Make a connection to the WORD SYNC terminal before
selecting W-IN or W-OUT.

PLL1 (Word off, NORMAL mode)

This setting does not use word sync. Only the first of the two
internal PLL circuits is operated. The WORD indicator goes off.
The WORD indicator lights up green if the input is i.LINK flow
rate control transmission.

<

PLL circuit: circuit which generates the master clock necessary
for D/A conversion.

PLL2 (Word off, Dual PLL mode)

This setting does not use word sync. Both internal PLL circuits
are operated. The WORD indicator lights green.
The WORD indicator flashes green while the PLL circuit is
locking. When the lock is finished, the indicator turns light.

<

The flow rate control works if the input is i.LINK flow rate
control transmission.

<

The second PLL circuit utilizes the internal crystal oscillator.

OUT (Word output mode)

The unit internally generates and sends out Word Clock.
The indicator lights.
You can change the frequency of the word sync signal. See
page 13 for details.
The indicator lights blue.

<

Make WORD SYNC connections before powering on the unit.
Set the word sync of any connected device to ON (or IN).

<

It takes several seconds to detect and lock to a clock.
If the received digital signal doesn’t match the sync signal, the
display shows “WRD ERROR!”.

IN

The D-05 now operates according to the externally input
clock. The WORD SYNC OUT terminal outputs the clock signal
input to the WORD SYNC IN terminal.

Selecting IN causes the indicator to blink in blue while the
unit searches for an external clock signal. The indicator stops
blinking when the unit detects and locks to the external clock
signal. The D-05 is now ready for playback synced to the
external clock signal.

<

The D-05 can handle clock signals up to 192 kHz and
switches automatically to accommodate signal input.

<

The word clock input frequency range is set to a narrow
precision range of ±15 ppm to optimize use of the G-0Rb/G-
03X and other high-precision clocks. This may prevent
synchronization to devices whose output precision is outside
this range.

CONV (Up convert)

You can convert the 44.1 kHz CD sampling frequency to 2x
or 4x. It is also possible to convert the CD PCM signal to a
DSD signal.

OFF

This setting provides no up conversion.

2Fs, 4Fs

This setting provides a twice or four times up conversion from
the input of PCM signals.

DSD

This setting convert CD PCM signals to the DSD signals (1 bit,
64 fs) that are used on a Super Audio CD.

<

The DSD signal of Super Audio CDs cannot be up converted.

<

The up convert multiplication factor differs depending on the
sampling frequency of the PCM signal input, as follows.

When the input frequency is 88.2kHz or 96kHz

CONV>OFF

The D-05 does not up convert.

CONV>2Fs

The D-05 does not up convert.

CONV>4Fs

The D-05 up converts to 176.5kHz
or 192kHz.

CONV>DSD

The signal is converted to DSD.

When the input frequency is 176.4kHz or 192kHz

CONV>OFF

The D-05 does not up convert.

CONV>2Fs

The D-05 does not up convert.

CONV>4Fs

The D-05 does not up convert.

CONV>DSD

The signal is converted to DSD.

DF (Digital filter)

This setting mode selects the characteristic of the digital filter.
The default setting is Wide.

Wide

This filter features a slow rolloff for reproducing natural
sounding harmonics.

Narrow

This filter features a sharp rolloff which provides a sharp
sound images.

<

This setting does not apply when a DSD signal is input or a
PCM signal is being converted to DSD.
