INSTRUCTIONS FOR OPERATION

Select a location for the Histo-Orientator on a table or workspace free of any direct draft.
The rate that your unit heats and the ultimate plate temperature are dependent on the
actual room temperature and any voltage deviation from 110-120 volts (for the TO-120) or
220-240 volts (for the TO-220).  If your unit warms too slowly, other demands on the same
power source may be lowering the voltage.

CAUTION:  Do not touch plate surface and metal housing after unit has been turned
on.  Prolonged contact can cause a mild burn.

Before making the electrical connection, make certain that the electrical characteristics of the
outlet agree with the electrical specifications on the rear of the instrument.  The unit should
then be plugged into a standard three-wire grounded outlet.

Push the control switch to the "

ON

" position indicated by the "I".  The lighted indicator

ON/OFF

” switch should illuminate, signaling that the unit is now functioning and that the

current is passing through the heating element.  In about 30 minutes, the plate temperature
should approach 50°C and reach 65°C in one hour.  The instrument will ultimately stabilize
between 70°C and 80°C.
