Starting & Stopping

Parking Brake

STARTING THE ENGINE

Before starting the engine :

•

Apply the parking brake fully.

•

Ensure that the gear lever is in neutral position.

Starting the Engine :

•

Insert the key into the switch and turn it to 'IGN' position.

•

The glow plug indicator light on the instrument panel will glow.

•

Wait till the glow plug indicator light goes off.

•

Press the clutch pedal fully and crank the engine. If the engine does not start, turn
the key to 'OFF' position & try again after 30 sec.

•

After starting the engine, keep the engine in idling for atleast 30 sec. Do not
accelerate the engine immediately after starting to avoid damage to
turbocharger(in case of Indica Turbo)

•

After starting the engine, ensure the "CHECK ENGINE" lamp is "OFF", This is a
normal phenomenon of  "CHECK ENGINE" lamp (only in Indica Turbo & BS-III)

NOTICE

Do not crank the engine for more than 10 sec continuously. If the engine does
not start, wait for 30 sec. before cranking it again. Release the key immediately
after starting the engine, otherwise the starter motor fly wheel ring gear may
get damaged.
