5.6.11 System / Dig. Program Insertion (DPI)
Splicing is used to insert a Digital Program (e.g. advertisements) into an MPEG-2 transport
stream. SCTE-35 has been written to support splicing information for Cable systems.
Figure 5.15 and Table 5.8 show the options available from the menu. In this mode, the
Encoder responds to messages received via Ethernet adhering to the DVS 525 protocol.

1. Some of the options may be different or unavailable in other DPI modes.
2. The stream carrying the splice information is referenced in PMT as Private Data.
