TW5310 Connections
The TW5310 supports the following connections:
4.1
Power
The TW5310 operates at 12 volts. Overvoltage and transient protection make it suitable
for installation in the harshest of vehicle installations.
Connect the BROWN wire to Positive supply (12V or 5V depending on variant)
Connect the BROWN/WHITE wire to 0V
Note: Tallysman offers variants of the TW5310 which operate with 3.3v, 5V and Vbus (
USB version power.
4.2
NMEA output
See section 3 for wiring details
GPS position and timing information is output once per second in NMEA format. The
NMEA RX and TX outputs are at RS232 levels.
The default output from the TW5310 is 3 digit GGA and RMC messages at 4800 baud,
but can be configured to output 4 or 5 digit resolution.
The TW5310 can be configured to output the following NMEA sentences using the
Tallysman TW5XXX Configurator:
RMC - The RMC message is the recommended minimum data for GPS
GGA - The GGA message provides GPS Fix Information
VTG - The VTG message provides vector track and speed over ground
GSA - The GSA message provides overall satellite data
GSV - The GSV message provides detailed satellite data.
Note 1: When configuring additional output messages the baud rate must be increased
to ensure that there is enough time to output all messages sentences e.g. set to 57,600
baud
