Tubing
a. Discharge the system in accordance with paragraph
5-12.
b. Debraze tubing in accordance with paragraph 5-14.
WARNING
Polyurethane foam insulation breaks down to form toxic gases when
heated to brazing temperature.
NOTE
When debrazing refrigerant tubing or fittings near an
insulated wall of the air conditioner, fabricate a sheet metal shield
to deflect the flame of the torch away from the insulation.
Per form
the operation in a well ventilated area.
NOTE
When debrazing tubing from expansion valves, solenoid valves
or other components that could be warped or damaged by brazing
temperature, the component should be disassembled to the extent
possible, and the body alone brazed/debrazed.
If disassembly is
impractical or impossible, the entire component, except for the joints
to be heated should be wrapped in wet cloth to act as a heat sink.
INSPECTION
8.
Tubing a.
Inspect tubing and fittings for nicks, cuts, cracks
or kinks.
b.
If damage appears to be minor, leak check in
accordance with paragraph 5-16.
c.
If no leaks are found consider tubing serviceable.
