Troubleshooting 

Fault 

Possible cause 

Remedy 

Motor fails to rotate 

•

No supply voltage

•

Motor contactor defective

•

Motor protection switch tripped

•

Brake not open

•

Brake improperly connected or worn

•

Check voltage

•

Replace motor contactor

•

Allow motor to cool and engage switch

•

Open brake

•

Check sensor setting on position cam

•

Check sensor cable on sensor

Motor rotates, but chain link 
fails to move 

•

External gear unit defective

•

Slipping clutch disengages

•

Cam roller in drive unit broken due to
excessive load

•

Clamping set not mounted correctly

•

Replace gear unit

•

Remove external blockage / engage
safety clutch

•

Contact TAKTOMAT GmbH

•

Install clamping set according to
manufacturer's operating instructions

Motor turns with loud 
humming noises

Motor runs on 2 phases only

Check fuses or motor contactor

Measure current in all 3 phases (voltage
measurement is not sufficient)
