BOOM
EXTENSIONS
BASES
PRODUCT CARE & MAINTENANCE GUIDELINES
• Remember that all masts can be broken by even small waves, surf or shorebreak.
Mast breakage resulting from use in breaking waves cannot normally be attributed
to defects in manufacturing or material, and is therefore not normally covered
under warranty.
• All masts & windsurfi ng equipment should be kept out of the sun when not in use.
Your boom and/or extension can be seriously damaged by impact with a solid object,
extended exposure to sunlight or corrosion (aluminium booms and/or extensions).
This damage may not always be visible to the naked eye. Never place yourself in a
situation where the breakage of your boom or extension would make it impossible to
return to the shore unaided & without assistance.
The following areas of your boom should be checked regularly for any signs of wear & tear:
• Mechanical front end parts: front end lever, clamp & screws
• Inhaul adjustment rope
• Back end adjustment levers
To maximise the life of your booms / extensions :
• Take care to keep your booms & extensions out of the sun when not in use.
• All sliding components must be free of sand & grit. Be sure to rinse out your boom
in fresh water to prevent the build-up of dirt. This will also prolong the life of your
aluminium booms which can be subject to corrosion over time.
• Do not leave boom clips open when not in use.
• Do not leave your extension inside your mast when not in use as it may corrode.
The T293 OD Universal Joint, is subject to extreme loads & forces and should be
regularly checked and replaced if it shows any signs of wear and tear.
The following components of this Universal Joint should be checked regularly for any
signs of wear & tear:
• The mechanical joint on all units should be free of any cracks or blemishes. The easiest
way to confi rm this, is to rotate the joint 180° through the 2 possible axes while checking
the parts. If any cracks appear, the product should be replaced immediately.
• The U-Pin / Mast Track Pin should be fl ush with the mechanical joint, and there should
be no “play” in the connections. Any looseness in these pins should be repaired
immediately and/or the parts replaced.
• The safety webbing can be your last resort in the event of a breakage of this part,
and the only part holding your board and rig together. This webbing should be free
of any wear and tear.
