Cassette tray
Press the     /     button to open and close the
tray.
Place the cassette in the CC drawer, with the tape
opening facing the inside of the machine (

' Inserting a cassette ' ).

Multi-purpose button for opening and closing the
cassette tray (OPEN) and for ending playback (STOP).
   

    B / C
This button is used to switch DOLBY noise reduction on
and off, and can be used both for recording and for
playing back a cassette recorded using DOLBY NR.
LEDs above the two buttons indicate which NR system is
active at any one time.
   

 

When the unit is in STOP mode you can switch it to
"record ready" mode by pressing the REC button. The
LED above the button glows when the deck is ready to
record.
   

A long press on this button (about 1 second) switches
Memory Stop on and off. If the machine is set to wind in
either direction with Memory Stop switched on, the
mechanism stops when the counter reaches
' 0,00 0,00 0,00 0,00 ' .
A brief press sets the digital tape counter to ' 0,00 0,00 0,00 0,00 ' .
   

( A utomatic T ape C alibration)
The CC 820 M is fitted with a computer-based tape
calibrator ( ATC - A utomatic T ape C alibration) which
checks the tape material before making the recording.
The computer adjusts the unit to record with a perfectly
flat, linear frequency response.
If you wish to use ATC, first place the cassette in the
machine. Determine the direction of the tape, and rewind
or fast-forward to the point on the tape where you wish to
make a recording.
A long press on the     button will produce the ' ATC ATC ATC ATC '
message on the screen. The ATC circuit now checks the
tape in the cassette, and adjusts the machine for a
perfectly linear frequency response.
Notes:
Tape calibration overwrites about 20 seconds of the
tape. Tape calibration should not be carried out right at
the start of the tape, as our experience shows that tapes
have most dropouts (faults in the magnetisation) in this
area. Attempting to calibrate the tape leader will result in
false readings.
After the calibration process the deck runs back to the
original tape position (where the calibration process
began).
