2.3.13 Lightning protection in the explosion-capable area
The effects of lightning strikes must be limited to a hazard-free extent. Alongside protection against
the effects of „direct“ lightning strikes, this also includes protection against lightning strikes at a dis-
tance from the building. The latter can lead to hazards as a result of excess voltages.
Carry out a risk analysis according to DIN VDE 0100, part 443, containing a balance between
protection and consequences, taking the probability of the occurrence of excess voltages into
account.
Protect all devices, protective systems and components by suitable lightning and excess voltage
protection measures.

Delivery
Each device leaves our factory in an electrically and mechanically fl awless condition. The fans are supplied on pallets.
We recommend transporting them to the place of assembly in the original packaging.
4.1
Examine delivery
In use in potentially explosion-capable environments, examine the name plate. Only use type PRF-EX fans.
Check the fans for obvious defects which can impair secure operation.
Above all, pay attention to damage to the connection wire, the terminal box and the rotor, to cracks in the housing,
missing rivets, screws or covering caps.

Safety information
Avoid electrical hazards as a result of damaged connection wires or connections:
•
Do not transport by the connection wire, terminal box or rotor.
Avoid hazards as a result of suspended loads or inclined lifting equipment:
•
Design the lifting equipment for the weight stated in the data sheet.
•
Do not walk under hovering loads.
•
Only move loads under supervision.
•
Lower the load when leaving the workplace.
Avoid cutting on sharp protruding parts:
•
Wear protective gloves in transportation and unpacking.
