Troubleshooting
C.1 Windows 95/98 Troubleshooting Tips
Use the tools provided by Windows 95/98 and LAN
analyzers (i.e. FTP Software NETXRAY, Novell LAN
analyzer) to diagnose problems. Some common
problems exhibited when the Spectrum24 WLAN
adapter has not been properly installed include:
• Windows 95/98 does not recognize the
Spectrum24 WLAN adapter when installed.
– Verify that Windows 95/98 PCMCIA support
is installed.
– Verify the computer has a Plug and Play BIOS
or a Spectrum24 PCI adapter in use.
• The driver fails to load.
– A resource conflict could exist. Use the Device
Manager to resolve resource conflicts.
Select the System applet from the Control Panel.
Select the
Device Manager tab.
• The workstation cannot associate to the
Spectrum24 access point.
– Verify the adapter ESSID matches the ESSID of
the AP. Refer to the
Configuration section of this
document for details.
