services.
Configuring a
CIFS share not in
the domain
Common Internet File System
(CIFS) is the mainstream file
system for sharing between
heterogeneous platforms. It is
mainly used for NT/Windows
environments.
Configuring an
NFS share not in
the domain
Through the NFS, users and
programs can access files in a
remote system just like
accessing local files. The NFS
enables each node (computer)
to utilize network resources as
conveniently as local
resources.
CIFS/NFS

on in the
domain
l
Provides file share
services.
l
The service is the
basic configuration
in the domain.
Configuring a
CIFS share in an
AD domain
Active Directory (AD) is a
directory service for Windows
Standard Server, Windows
Enterprise Server, and
Windows Datacenter Server.
AD enables administrators and/
or users to easily find and use
information stored in network
objects.
Configuring an
NFS share using
LDAP
The N8300 uses Lightweight
Directory Access Protocol
(LDAP) for access control; that
is, only specified hosts can be
mounted on file systems.
LDAP-based access control is
mainly used for an NFS sharing
environment.
