Installing/Removing SATA Drives
To remove a carrier, push the release button located beside the drive LEDs.

Swing the colored handle fully out and use it to pull the unit straight out (see

Figure 6-5).
Note:
Your operating system must have RAID support to enable the hot-plug ca-
pability of the SATA drives.
Serial ATA Backplane
The Serial ATA drives plug into a backplane that provides power, drive ID and bus
termination. A RAID controller can be used with the backplane to provide data se-
curity. The backplane is already preconfi gured, so there are no jumpers or switches
present on it.
