Primary IDE Slave
While entering setup the BIOS auto detects the presence of IDE devices. This
sub-menu displays the status of Auto detection of the IDE devices.
Device
Information
(Static)
This static display shows device information for the primary IDE slave device.
LBA/Large Mode
This option sets LBA Mode. Disabled allows you to disable LBA Mode.
Auto
enables LBA Mode if the device supports it and it is not already formatted with
LBA Mode disabled.
Block
(Multi-Sector
Transfer)
Use this option to set mult-sector transfer. When Disabled, the data transfer from
and to the device occurs one sector at a time. When set to
Auto
, the data
transfer from and to the device occurs multiple sectors at a time if the device
supports it.
PIO Mode
This option allows you to select the PIO mode. Options include
Auto
, 0, 1, 2, 3,
or 4.
DMA Mode
Use this option to select the DMA mode. Auto allows you to auto detect the
mode to use. The term
SWDMAn
meansr SingleWord DMAn,
MWDMAn
means
MultiWordDMAn and
UDMAn
means Ultra DMAn. Options include
Auto
,
SWDMA0, SWDMA1, SWDMA2, MWDMA0, MWDMA1, MWDMA2, UDMA0,
UDMA1, UDMA2, UDMA3, UDMA4, UDMA5 and UDMA6.
S.M.A.R.T
S.M.A.R.T stands for Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology. This
option allows you to enable or disable S.M.A.R.T. on your system. Options
include
Auto
, Disabled or Enabled.
32Bit Data
Transfer
This option
Enables
or Disables 32-bit data transfer on your system.
Hard Disk Write
Protect
Use this setting to Enable or
Disable
device write protection. This will be
effective only if device is accessed through the BIOS.
IDE Detect Time Out
(Sec)
This setting allows you to select the time out value for detecting ATA/ATAPI
devices. Options are 5-second increments between 5 and 35 seconds. Default is
35
.
ATA(PI) 80-Pin Cable
Detection
This setting allows you to select the mechanism for detecting an 80-pin ATA(PI)
cable. Options include Host, Device or
Host & Device
.
