Sensing condition
Step
Description
Set the mode selection switch to 'SET'.
Press the ON button.
When the sensor accepts the ON condition, the
stability indicator (green) blinks.
The stability indicator blinks twice if the difference between the
ON level and the OFF level is sufficient enougt to detect the
liquid level stably. (Note)
The stability indicator blinks continuously if the difference is so
small that stable detection of the liquid level is not possible. (Note)
Press the OFF button.
Set the mode selection switch to 'RUN'.
Then, the set sensitivity is registered. Even if the
buttons are pressed by mistake in 'RUN' mode,
the registered sensitivity stays unchanged.

3)
If the jog switch is pressed continuously 3 sec., or more, full auto-teaching is
done. In case of
FD-F8Y
, correct sensitivity setting cannot be done in full
auto-teaching.
Also, if the mode selection switch is changed to 'RUN' while level indicators
'4' and '5' are blinking, the incident light intensity taught at Step
Ԛ
is not re-
corded.
When the mode selection switch is set to 'SET' or 'MODE', the sensor is
more susceptible to extraneous light. Hence, when sensing a liquid, ensure
to set the mode selection switch to 'RUN'.
When the mode selection switch is changed from 'SET' to 'RUN' or from
'MODE' to 'RUN', the set sensitivity or the contents of each mode setting are
stored in an EEPROM. However, since the EEPROM has a lifetime, the sen-
sitivity setting cannot be done for more than 100,000 times.

Press the jog switch in the fiber not immersed condition. The level in-

Release the jog switch within 3 sec. The lev-

In order to protect the mechanism, the sensitivity adjuster idles when over
turned, which may result in a backlash of 1 to 2 divisions.
Depending upon the sensing conditions, stable sensing may be possible at
a position which is slightly shifted from the optimum sensitivity point.

Adjust the sensitivity, observing the op-
eration indicator (orange).
However, since the condition for light-
ing up of the indicator depends on the
combination of the sensing condition
and selected MODE for L/D-ON, verify
it from the table on the right.
The sensitivity adjuster is a 12-turn po-
tentiometer. The maximum sensitivity
is obtained by turning it fully clockwise.
