Control does not
work

Power supply

Check fuses, circuit breakers and wiring to the controller.

Wiring

Remove cover plate and check for loose wires

Motorized valve

Measure the voltage at the valve motor terminals with a voltmeter
and fl ip the “TEST ON and “OFF” switch. If the voltage is correct and
the valve does not turn, it must be replaced.

Valve

The motor forces but the valve will not turn.Sand from a worn fi lter
may jam the valveoperation. Disassemble the valve, clean it out and
replace O-rings, gaskets, ball, or entire valve if scored or damaged.
Repair or replace pool fi lter.

7

Some solar
panels are warm
while others are
cool

Flow of water.
No equal fl ow through all pan-
els. The warm panel indicates
to low water fl ow.

a.  Be sure fi lter is clean. Backwash to reduce pressure.
b.  The pump may not be providing enough water to the solar

system. Check water fl ow using a fl ow meter. Increase pump
horsepower if needed to maintain recommended fl ow.

c.  If there is a suction type cleaner in the pool, remove it. If this elimi-

nates the problem, use it only when the solar system is off .

If the system is a single row
array

a.  If there is adequate fl ow, install an HC-152 Two-Way Valve on the

return line to throttle the fl ow back to produce more back pres-
sure on the system. This will even out the fl ow through the panels.

b.  If the array contains more panels than the maximum recommend-

ed on Page 9 of the manual, change the array to a double row or
single row split feed as shown in Fig 4.2 and Fig 4.3.

If the system is a double row or
a single row split feed array.

a.  If there is adequate fl ow, install an HC-152 Two-Way Valve on the

return side of the set of panels that are the coolest to throttle
back the fl ow through these panels and force more through the
warmer panels.

b.  If any section of the array contains more panels than the maxi-

mum recommended on Page 9 of the manual, make changes as
needed to correct this.

8

The water com-
ing from the
solar system is
not as warm as it
should be

The water is fl owing to fast
through the panels.

Water fl ow through a single panel should be less than 10 gallons per
minute. Adjust the Three-Way Valve to by-pass some of the water

Seasonal normal operation

In the cooler months of the year, the temperature rise through the
panels may only be 2°-3°. Use the back of your hand to feel the water
temperature diff erence at the pool return inlet

9

The 2-way or
3-way valve not
turn

Internal parts need to be lubri-
cated orreplaced

If valve has a grease fi tting, inject grease into valve then turn the di-
verter past the grease fi tting to spread the grease. If the grease fi tting
is dry, fi ll it with silicone grease. If there is not a fi tting, disassemble
valve and lubricate with silicone grease. Replace worn or broken parts.
