Note – The SCSI and FC-AL controllers must be used as a pair; that is, a controller
module contains either two SCSI controllers or two FC-AL controllers.
Both array controllers come with 16-Mbyte processor memory and 64-Mbyte (SCSI)
or 128-Mbyte (FC-AL) cache memory. Cache memory is a memory buffer on the
controller that supports the Write Cache feature of the Sun StorEdge™ RAID
Manager software, the storage management software for your Sun StorEdge A3500/
A3500FC system. The controllers require no maintenance. Refer to the Sun StorEdge
RAID Manager Installation and Support Guide and the Sun StorEdge RAID Manager
User’s Guide for controller configuration and other software-related information.
1.2.2 Interfaces to the Host System
Both controllers connect into the back panel, the main circuit board that
interconnects all the components in the controller module. The controller back panel
is an integral part of the controller card cage assembly. The controller card cage is a
modular structure inside the chassis consisting of controller shelves and the
controller back panel (
