A
Cartridge Care
T10000 cartridges require care to ensure proper operation and longevity. This appendix
deals with the handling of cartridges, including unpacking and shipping cartridges to
another site. For information regarding cartridge labels, particularly those cartridges
used inside a library, see
Note –
In this chapter, “data cartridges” refers to all data cartridges:
Standard data, Sport data, VolSafe data, and Sport VolSafe data cartridges.
Unpacking New Cartridges
Unpack new data cartridges in the area in which they are used and allow them to
acclimate for a period of at least 72 hours.
Handling
Caution –
Tape Damage
: Cartridges are easily damaged and you must handle them
carefully.
Follow these cartridge handling guidelines:
■
Do not expose the tape or cartridge to direct sunlight or moisture.
■
Do not expose a data cartridge to magnetic fields.
■
Maintain clean operating, working, and storage environments.
Cleaning
Wipe all dust, dirt, and moisture from the cartridge case with a lint-free cloth.
