7. Connect the cable to the Console port on the distributed management card, if
necessary.

FIGURE 5-2
for the location of the Console port on the distributed
management card.
Caution – Do not connect cables to the Console port on both the distributed
management card and the rear transition card. No mechanism is provided to disable
simultaneous input from the front and rear cards, so attempts to input data from
both ports will place the board(s) in an unknown state.
5.2 Removing and Installing Switching
Fabric Boards
Note – During a hot-swap of a switching fabric board connected to an active
distributed management card, the active distributed management card will failover
to the standby card. For more information about the distributed management card
failover capabilities, refer to the
Netra CT 820 Server System Administration Guide
(817-2647).
The Netra CT 820 server is available only as a rear-access server. Every server is
shipped with two switching fabric boards installed in slots 2 and 21 in the front of
the server, and two rear transition cards for the switching fabric boards installed in
slots 2 and 21 at the rear of the server.
If you are hot-swapping the rear transition card for a switching fabric board, you
must remove the switching fabric board from the front of the system before
removing the rear transition card from the rear of the system. Do not remove the
rear transition card without first removing the accompanying switching fabric board
from the front.
Caution –
Processor boards might contain a socketed lithium battery. This battery is
not a field-replaceable unit. There is a danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly
replaced or handled. Do not disassemble or recharge the battery. Do not dispose of
the battery in fire. When the battery is replaced, the same type or an equivalent type
recommended by the manufacturer must be used. Used batteries must be disposed
of according to the manufacturer's instructions. Return the processor board to the
Sun Microsystems for battery service.
