The Rayfin can be configured and used in three networking modes:
1. DHCP (default)
A DHCP server will automatically assign the Rayfin an IP address and
the Rayfin Control Software (RCS) will automatically find that Rayfin
through
Zero-Configuration network discovery.
The SAMBA* file sharing protocol works automatically over DHCP.
2. LINK LOCAL (Serial #)
You can use link local to connect to a rayfin when it’s other IP(s) are
not known.
Note:
The SAMBA* file share is not available in this mode.
To connect from RCS, manually enter the IP 169.254. _ _ _ . _ _ . In
place of the blanks enter the five digit serial number of your Rayfin.
3. STATIC IP
When using a static IP, the computer running RCS, the router and the
Rayfin must all be on the same network and subnet in order to allow
communication with each other.
Example configuration:
Rayfin -> 192.168.10.10 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
PC -> 192.168.10.5 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
Router -> 192.168.10.0 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
IMPORTANT: File sharing with SAMBA* is available in this mode only
while no DHCP server is enabled on that network.
IMPORTANT: In order to set up static IP, you will need to first use one
of the other connection modes (DHCP, Link Local, or connect via
serial), then configure the static IP through RCS.
If your camera does not auto-detect in Rayfin Control Software:
1. In Rayfin Software -> Settings -> Communication
2. Type the serial number of your camera into the Ethernet
textbox and press connect.
*SAMBA: Stands for Server Message Block Protocol and allows for file
sharing between rayfin and windows computers.
