Stûv µM - directions for use [en] - 0915
– If your stove is fitted with a fan and
an electricity failure occurs, reduce
the rate by turning the regulator
lever to “slow fire down” to avoid
overheating.
> Dampers left open
Operation with the air controls or
appliance dampers open can cause
excess smoke. The appliance must
not be operated with air controls,
appliance dampers or door left open
except as directed in the instructions.
Start the fan if your stove is fitted with
one.
Lighting the fire (continued)
Note
– In certain atmospheric conditions
(if the temperature outside is higher
than inside), the operation of the
flue can be hindered.
Therefore use more paper and
kindling wood to heat up the flue
and to re-establish the draught.
– Combustion is not optimal below a
certain rate, the waste is greater,
the
glass door gets dirty quickly and
in
some cases there is a risk of the fire
going out.
After three-quarters to one hour,
select the burn rate desired using the
air intake damper.
Use of the fan (optional)
When to use the fan?
When the stove is sufficiently hot,
press the on/off button [diagram 1].
Adjust the fan’s speed control to your
preference (it has increments of 10%).
Note that this stove is fitted with a
thermal switch. It prevents the fan
from working whilst the stove is not
sufficiently hot. It will not blow cold
air into the room. Whilst the stove
is hot, stopping the fan means it will
switch to the lowest speed. It will
turn itself off automatically when the
temperature drops again.
Note
– Avoid operating the stove in “open
fire” position.
– Avoid using the stove in “open fire”
position if you have an installation
where the convection air is used to
heat an adjoining room.
Lighting the fire
Light a considerable amount of small
kindling wood (at least 1 kg) in which
you should place environmentally-
friendly fire lighters.
Open the air valve as far as possible.
Light the fire.
Leave the glass door ajar for 10 to
20 minutes until the fire is burning
adequately [schema 3] then close the
glass door.
This slight opening enables direct
supply of air to the fire without using
the normal circuit (the valve) whilst
avoiding a supply of too much air
needing to be heated, which is the
case when the stove is fully open.
Insert 2 or 3 medium-sized logs (1.5
to 3 kg).
Once the logs have burned and there
is a considerable amount of embers,
place large logs against the back wall
of the stove.
Caution
The appliance must not be operated
in a smoke control area in the Open
fire mode
