TIP 1010: UPS Power Problems
Use this TIP to troubleshoot power problems with the uninterruptible power
supply (UPS). This UPS is an optional feature that was designed to help prevent
blackouts, brownouts, sags and surges in AC power to the library.
See “Uninterruptible Power Supply” on page A-6 for a wiring diagram and more
information about the UPS.
Notes:
If power fails, the UPS will supply power to the equipment connected to the
power strip until the batteries are exhausted. While running on battery power,
periodic beeps will sound.
• Press the TEST/ALARM DISABLE button to turn off this alarm.
• A continuous beep will sound two minutes before the UPS will shutdown.

Problem Conditions That Could Cause This Problem
No power to the library. • Defective UPS, switch, or power strip
• Defective AC PDU
• Defective power cable
• Disconnected power source
1. Did the customer site lose power? Yes: Go to step 2 .
No: Go to step 4 .
2. Did the UPS activate? Yes: Go to step 3
No: Go to step 4 .
3. Check the Replace Battery light.
Is the LED on?
Yes: See Table 3-1 on page 3-6 for information
about the problem and possible cause.
No: Go to step 4 .
4. Isolate the power problem between
the library and the UPS.
Refer to the L180 and L700 Uninterruptible Power
Supply Reference Manual for more information
and fault isolation of the UPS.
See Table 3-1 on page 3-6 to help isolate the
problem with the UPS.
