O
CAUTION:
Do not use your Direct Vent Gas Fireplace with a DV ReFace Screen
installed until you read and completely understand the Installation & Operating Instruc-
tions that follow. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your Stoll
Dealer or Stoll Industries before proceeding.
GENERAL SAFEGUARDS:
•
Excessive heat can cause damage to the DV ReFace Screen. A continuous gas
fire in the Direct Vent Gas Fireplace may cause discoloration or more serious
damage to the DV ReFace finishes. If discoloration of the finish is noticed con-
tact you Stoll dealer for advice. This type of damage, caused by over
-
heating, is
considered abuse and is not covered by warranty.
OPERATION:
•
Stoll DV ReFace Screens come in a wide variety of configurations; from classic
freestanding screen styles to many more elaborate designs and configurations.
They differ primarily in how the operator gains access to the Direct Vent Fireplace
controls. Most, if not all, Direct Vent Fireplaces are controlled by a thermostat
that turns the gas fire on and off according to room temperature. Access to the
fireplace controls is not necessary under most circumstances. The DV Reface
Screen remains in place until maintenance or cleaning is needed.
•
To access the DV
-
Fireplace controls when a freestanding style DV ReFace
Screen
(Figure 4)
is installed it will be necessary to remove the entire screen and
set it aside. Since the screen is self
-
supporting on legs, it may need only two
magnets at the top to secure it to the DV
-
Fireplace making removal easier. If the
fireplace blower should cause a rattle or vibration, install the remaining magnets.
•
The Artisan style DV ReFace Screen
(Figure 5)
lifts off easily, leaving the frame
attached to the DV
-
Fireplace. Use all four magnets to keep the frame secure.
•
DV Reface Screens equipped with operating doors
(Figure 6)
allow access to the
DV
-
Fireplace louvers and controls by simply opening the doors. The screen
doors can easily be removed and set aside if necessary. Use all four magnets to
keep the frame secure.
•
The Craftsman style DV ReFace screen
(Figure 7)
is heavier than some other
styles. The Craftsman style screen pictured was ordered with a one
-
piece door
that opens in one direction rather than the typical two door configuration. Such a
door is heavier than most and might need additional magnets at the top to keep
the frame secure to the DV
-
Fireplace. If any DV ReFace Screen shows signs
that it is not secure to the DV
-
Fireplace contact your Stoll dealer immediately.
MAINTENANCE:
O
CAUTION:
The
DV ReFace Screen and the Direct Vent Gas Fireplace must be at
room temperature before cleaning. The DV
-
Fireplace could come on at any time
should the thermostat call for heat. Turn the thermostat temperature down or off to
prevent the DV
-
Fireplace from coming on unexpectedly during maintenance.
•
Inspect the convection louvers and/or screens for any build
-
up of household dust
on a regular basis. Household dust, pet hair, and the like will be drawn to the
screen by the blower built into the DV
-
Fireplace. Clean the louvers and/or
screens immediately if any build
-
up is evident. A standard soft brush attachment
on a vacuum cleaner is recommended.
O
IMPORTANT:
Failure to keep the louvers and/or screens clean can impede the air
flow through the convection chambers of the DV
-
Fireplace, reducing the overall heating
efficiency, and could cause dangerous overheating.
•
Stoll uses high quality, heat resistant Powder Coat and solid polished metal fin-
ishes on DV ReFace Screens. These types of finish requires only an occasional
wipe with a damp cloth to maintain the factory finish. A mild household cleaner
may be used if necessary. Do not use cleaners that contain ammonia. Do not
use harsh, strong, or abrasive cleaners. Do not use metal polish.
