SECTION 2 - SERVICING PASSENGER STAIRWAY
2.1.3.3 | Pressure Relief Valve
The hydraulic pressure relief is an integral part of the hydraulic
control valve and is factory set at approximately 1500 psi. The relief
is adjustable but should be adjusted only if the hydraulic pressure
becomes inadequate to raise the stairs. See Section 2.3 of this Section for
adjustment procedures.
2.1.3.4 | Flow Control Valves
The flow control valves for the A-frame and stair cylinders are factory-set
and should be adjusted only when the A-frame or stairway lowers too
fast. See Section 3 of this Section for adjustment procedures.
2.1.4 | Electrical System (12 VDC)
2.1.4.1 | Electrical Cables, Wiring and Lights
• Check all cables and wiring for damaged insulation, security and
condition of terminals.

Replace burned-out lamps in fixtures. Check fixtures for security
and general condition.
2.1.4.2 | Batteries and Charger
The batteries and charger are mounted on the stairway chassis. The
charger is automatic. When the batteries reach full charge, the charger
decreases output to a trickle and automatically turns on or off to
maintain a full charge. The batteries are 6 V marine deep cycle batteries
and are hooked directly to the charger. The batteries and the charger are
enclosed in waterproof plastic containers with removable lids.
• Check battery connections for tightness weekly. Tighten if required.
• Check battery terminals for corrosion. Clean terminals if required.
2.1.5 | Scheduled Servicing
Scheduled servicing consists of those preventive maintenance
procedures, which will assure long and dependable operation of the unit
if performed on a regularly scheduled basis. Perform scheduled servicing
in accordance with Table 2.1.5.
