Instructions for use for Ridgegear Endless Sling (RGK26 Series) complying (where applicable) with the
requirements of EN795:2012 Type B and EN566:2006 (See product marking for applicable approval)
Read these instructions carefully before use.
Before use, a detailed risk assessment must be carried out by a competent person to establish that this is the correct product suitable for the type of
work to be carried out, taking into account anchor points, potential fall distance, obstructions, rescue system, etc.
The RGK26 series is designed to be used as either a climbing safety sling (EN566) or a fall arrest anchor device (EN795 Type B).
Maximum rated load assembled in accordance with these instructions is 100kg or a single user. The manufacturers minimum straight breaking load is 22kN.
These products are manufactured from manmade fibres typically nylon, polyester and UHMWPE
Attaching the RGK26 series

Ensure that a suitable anchor point is selected and is compatible with the RGK26.
·
Ensure there are no sharp edges.
·
Ensure the RGK26 is securely fixed to the anchor point
·
Ensure that it is not possible for the RGK26 to slide down a structure such as a vertical beam
·
The RGK26 may also be attached to a suitable anchor point with the addition of a compatible connector (EN362)
·
Typical methods of correctly forming the loop of the anchor device are: (1) Choke (2) Basket (see diagrams)

Users are warned that certain medical conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, vertigo, epilepsy, drug or alcohol dependence, could affect the
safety of the user in normal and emergency use.
(2)
This equipment must only be used by suitably trained personnel who are competent in its safe use.
(3)
Ensure before use that there is a suitable rescue plan to enable the retrieval of the user to a place of safety in the event of a fall.
(4)
Never attempt to modify or repair this product.
(5)
Tying a knot will have a negative affect on this products strength. How much the strength is affected depends on a number of factors such as type of knot
used and the material the product is made from. It is for the user to assess whether the knot(s) tied still leave this product series within safe working limits.
(6)
The intended purpose of this product is to use as a mobile attachment point on a working rope (or as an anchor point see instructions on EN795). Never use
for any other purpose other than that for which it is intended.
(7)
This product is recommended for personal issue.
(8)
Ensure that any harness (EN358, 361, 813) and safety lines used with this equipment are suitably CE approved and compatible with this product.
(9)
Also be aware of any possible dangers, which may arise through use of combinations of items of equipment in which the safe function of any one item is
affected by or interferes with the safe function of another.
(10) Before every use, the user must be suitably qualified to carry out a pre-use check (see section on inspection)
(11) It is essential for safety that the equipment is withdrawn from use immediately should:

any doubt arise about its condition for safe use or if the equipment shows excessive wear or damage to any part or
·
if it has been used to arrest a fall
(12) Ensure that all anchor points and devices are compatible with this equipment and they have a strength of at least 10kN.
(13) In order to reduce the potential fall distance, ensure that the equipment anchor point is as high as possible above the user.
(14) A full body harness is the only acceptable device that may be used to arrest a fall.
(15) Either the rear or front harness D ring are acceptable attachment points. Never use work positioning D rings as attachment points for fall arrest
(16) Ensure there is sufficient clearance below the user, so that in the event of a fall, there will be no collision with the ground or other obstacle in the fall path. In
particular, allow for elongation of energy absorbers.
(17) The RGK26 series is suitable for use in normal atmospheric conditions (-20°C to +50°C). Do not use in icy conditions as this will affect the stability of the yarns
used to manufacture the product. Also be aware of wet webbing freezing as this affects the webbings strengths performance.
(18) To prolong the life of the product it is essential to keep the product clean and away for dirt. Avoid impact, sharp edges or abrasive surfaces, contact with
strong acids or alkali, solvents, chemicals, excessive heat and/or sparks, UV exposure.

It is recommended that the sling is fixed to a shackle or area with limited
movement, which prevents the sling from moving away from its position
in the event of a fall. A sling which is able to slide whilst under load is
potentially dangerous as the fibres could cut due to friction and abrasion.
