Conductor bushing
8174/1, 8174/2
The plug-in bushing 8174/2 may only be fitted to an enclosure wall from the d-area.
The plug-in bushing can be inserted directly into an appropriately-sized hole in the
enclosure wall. Flameproof sealing is achieved via a cylindrical gap between enclosure
and bushing.
The gap surfaces must be such that their peak-to-peak roughness value of
R
a
(ISO 468) ( 6.3 m m is not exceeded.
8 Transport and Storage
Transport and storage are only permitted in the original packing.
9 Installation
X The conductors must be carefully connected.
X
The conductor insulation must reach to the terminal. The conductor itself must not be
damaged (nicked) when removing the insulation.
X The remaining minimum length of the isolated cable has to be 100 mm at least.
X Cables not used must be terminated or have their ends insulated.
10 Commissioning
Before commissioning, ensure that
X
the bushing has been installed according to the directions
X
connections have been correctly made
X each cable has been run correctly
X all screws and nuts are fully tightened
X
the bushings are securely tightened
WARNING
When fitting a bushing into an enclosure with Flameproof explosion protection, the
conditions set out in IEC/EN 60079-1 must be observed. The number of threads
engaged must be at least 5. If the enclosure volume is ( 100 cm
3
, the screw-in depth
must be at least 5 mm, if it is > 100 cm
3
, then the depth must be at least 8 mm. The nut
thread must comply with the values given in IEC/EN 60079-1 for medium or fine
tolerance thread form and grade.

The tolerance

for the Ex-gap must be maintained under all circumstances.
Otherwise, the explosion protection is not guaranteed.
