4.1
Function
Application range
The series 8187 Ethernet terminal is designed to connect CAT5/6/7 cables with transfer
rates of up to 1 Gbit/s on up to four core pairs in Zone 1 hazardous areas, and replaces
the impermissible RJ-45 industrial plug connectors. This Ethernet terminal is suitable for
Power over Ethernet (PoE); its high-quality shielding connections help to ensure reliable
transmission.
For use in Zone 1 and 2 gas hazardous areas, the Ethernet terminal must be installed in
a suitable protective enclosure in accordance with IEC/EN 60079-0.
For use in Zone 21 and 22 dust hazardous areas, the Ethernet terminal must be installed
in a suitable protective enclosure in accordance with IEC/EN 60079-31.
"Intended use" includes complying with these operating instructions and the other
applicable documents, e.g. the data sheet.
Any other use of the device is not intended.
