Combustion Air Damper
Do not neglect to
adjust the
Combustion Air damper during the
break in period of your new Stove
(See Figure 23 to the left).
Your
Element-MF Stove is equipped with
an air inlet damper. The purpose of
this damper is to adjust combustion
airflow to match the characteristic of
each specific air inlet and chimney
configuration. The damper will most
likely only need a small adjustment
during the break in period. To know
if the damper needs adjusting, you
must observe how Corn, Wheat, Rye
Distillers Grain, Cherry Pits or
Pellets burn in the Multi-Fuel Burn
System.
Figure 23
The damper on your Element-MF has been preset at the factory using a setscrew. This is the
starting point for adjusting the damper.
Once the Element-MF has been lit for the first time, the damper will need to be adjusted.
The process is different for Corn, Wheat, Rye, Distillers Grain Pellets than Pellets &
Cherry Pits. This may take some time, so please be patient during this process. After the
damper has been adjusted to the unique installation in your home, the control board
automatically increases the Combustion Fan Voltage every time the feed rate is advanced
on the control board. This minimizes the need for additional damper adjustments.
Terminology used when burning Corn, Wheat, Rye or Distiller’s Grain.
1.
Balanced
burn pot. This means the rapidly turns into red-hot coals once it is in
the burn pot.
2.
Lag time
. This is the time it takes for the Corn, Wheat, Rye or Distillers Grain to
start burning and become balanced in the burn pot. These fuels will tend to stick
together in a clump in the burn pot if the fuel feeds in faster than it’s burning.
