STEP 3: INSTALLING THE BATTERY
❑
Loop the rubber band over each end of the plywood battery tray.
☞
Notice how the rubber band is crossed in the center to "capture"
the battery securely.
❑
Slide your battery under the rubber band. Double-check that the
rubber band holds your battery securely.

✦
Do not install the battery tray permanently yet. Leave
the battery tray loose until after you balance the airplane. That will
allow you to move the battery tray if necessary to bring the airplane
into balance.
❑
After you've found the final location of the battery tray, glue it into the
fuselage, using foam-friendly C/A or 5 minute epoxy.

✦
Because we mounted the battery in the forward compartment, removing the battery for charging is easy. All that's
necessary is to open the hinged front cover. If you need to mount your battery behind the forward bulkhead, you will need to
remove the wing to get to the battery. If you don't want to do this, an option is to carefully enlarge the oval-shaped hole in the
forward bulkhead just large enough for your battery to fit through. You can then secure your battery to the battery tray using
Velcro instead of a rubber band. Secure a piece of strapping tape to the end of the battery so that you can grab it and pull the
battery out though the forward bulkhead.
STEP 4: INSTALLING THE FRONT COVER AND PROPELLER
❑
Set the front cover into place and align it. Notice that one end is
angled to match the angle between the fuselage and the firewall.
❑
Hinge the front of the front cover to the firewall, using a strip of clear
tape (not included).
❑
Secure the back of the front cover into place, using a rubber band
(not included) attached to each end of the forward wing hold-down dowel.
❑
Install your propeller to finish off the assembly.
