MAINTENANCE

The user’s company safety officer should maintain a record log of servicing & inspection
dates for this unit. (see AS/NZS1891-4 for guidance on inspection cycles)
o
For mechanical components small applications of mineral oil can be used as a lubricant
after cleaning.
o
Wash textile components with mild soap and warm water, rinse thoroughly, allow to dry in
the shade. Do not tumble dry.
o
Store the equipment in a dry, dark cool position, away from chemicals, corrosives, high
humidity, sharp objects, U.V radiations, salt environment, or any other possible causes of
damage.
o
Do not store the equipment wet.
Warnings:
•
Only properly trained personnel should use this equipment.
•
Failure to observe these instructions could result in serious injury or possible
death.
No additions or alterations may be made to this Bosuns Chair.
If any part of the Bosuns Chair is exposed to hazardous chemicals or atmosphere,
the manufacturer should be consulted to determine whether it is suitable for
continued use.
This equipment should not be used until a proper understanding of AS/NZS 1891.4
has been attained.
This Bosuns Chair must only be used in situations where a independent, back up fall
arrest system is provided.
Connection to this Bosuns Chair must only ever be made to the load bearing ring at
the apex.
Limitations
• The Bosuns Chair should be taken out of service and destroyed if a fall has been
sustained.
• Ensure that the Bosuns Chair is inspected before and after every use. Check for signs of
wear, sew patterns looking for broken threads, heat damage and stretching. Run your
hands along the webbing, checking for cuts, abrasions, burn marks or deterioration.
