CAUTION
Although they are designed to withstand the elements, there are precautions you should take to optimize the long-term
performance of your Boomtomb. Keep soil and greenery from covering the external hooded port. If soil accumulates on
the hooded port, it can be rinsed away with low water pressure. Chemicals commonly used in the yard can potentially
wear the components prematurely. Avoid spraying such chemicals onto or near the Boomtomb. Also avoid placing the
Boomtomb where the hooded port will come in direct contact with sprinklers or where water pools. The Boomtomb was
designed to work with the Bass Power 250 amplifier or any standard stereo amp. However, to ensure maximum sound qual-
ity and performance, we recommend always using the Bass Power 250 (AMPX67250).
INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on purchasing SpeakerCraft's Boomtomb in-ground subwoofer. Bury this waterproof enclosure in the back-
yard, in a flower bed, at the edge of the lawn or near the pool and the long excursion 10-inch woofer will shake the earth.
Vented through a hooded port, the only exposed element of the system, the bass will support any number of Ruckus,
Outdoor Elements or OG speakers in the vicinity. Powered by a dedicated external 250-watt amplifier, the Boomtomb will
bring your landscape to life. To be sure that you optimize the performance of your Boomtomb in-ground subwoofer, please
read this manual carefully.
SPEAKER INSTALLATION
• Attach the threaded port tube to the cabinet. Hardware or tools are not required. (See Figure 1 for assembly)
CAUTION: DO NOT grab the port tube cap to tighten the port tube to the cabinet and DO NOT overtighten the port tube
itself to the cabinet. Doing so may damage or break the threads.
SPEAKER PLACEMENT
• The Boomtomb system is intended to provide powerful bass in outdoor environments. In large outdoor areas, it may be
necessary to utilize additional Boomtomb systems to achieve optimal effect.
• If you desire music over a wide area, it is best to have a larger number of Boomtomb systems playing at low volume,
rather than a few speakers playing at high volume. Keep this in mind when designing your outdoor system.
• Direct burial wire or conduit for new yard construction must be run to the location of the Boomtomb. Keep in mind that
patios, walls and other features in your yard may make it difficult to get around when wiring.
2
• Dig a hole large enough to completely cover the Boomtomb enclosure but be sure the external hooded port remains
expose to the surface.
• A drain plug was added to the enclosure for specially wet conditions. However, we strongly recommend adding a
layer of gravel under the enclosure for better water drainage.
