Digital to analogue audio converter
Item no. 1274945
Intended use
The product is intended for the conversion of digital audio signals (optical or coaxial) into analogue stereo
audio signals.
The voltage/power is supplied via the power supply unit included in the delivery.
This product complies with the applicable national and European requirements. All names of companies and
products are the trademarks of the respective owners. All rights reserved.
Package Contents
• Audio converter
• Power adapter
• Stereo cinch cable
• Operating instructions
Safety Instructions
The warranty/guarantee will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these operating instructions! We do not assume any liability for any resulting damage!
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by improper use
or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In such cases, the warranty will be null
and void.
a) General
• Unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not allowed for safety and approval reasons
(CE). Do not disassemble the product.
• Any maintenance or repair work may only be performed by an expert.
• Do not carelessly leave the packaging material lying around, since it could become a dangerous plaything
for children.
b) Power adapter
• The design of the power adapter complies with Protection Class II. Use only a standard mains socket as
the power source for the power adapter.
• The mains socket into which the power adapter is plugged must be easily accessible.
• Do not pull the power adapter from the mains socket by pulling on the cable. Hold it on the sides of the
casing and pull it out of the mains socket.
• Do not touch any power adapter that shows signs of damage; there is a danger to life from electric shock!
First, switch off the mains voltage to the socket to which the power adapter is connected (switch off at the
corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety fuse or switch off at the corresponding RCD protective
switch, so that all poles of the mains socket are disconnected).
You can then unplug the power adapter from the mains socket. Dispose of the faulty wall plug transformer
in an environmentally friendly way, do not use it any more. Replace it with a wall plug transformer of the
same design.
c) Operation
• The product is not a toy. Devices operated using mains voltage should not be used by children. Therefore,
be especially careful when children are around.
Use the product where it is out of the reach of children.
• The product is intended for use only in dry, indoor locations. No part of the product should become damp
or wet; never handle it if your hands are wet!
Wall plug transformers pose the potential risk of a fatal electric shock!
• Avoid the following adverse conditions at the installation location and during transport:
- Dampness or excessive humidity
- Extreme cold or heat, direct sunlight
- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations, impacts or blows
- Strong magnetic fields such as those found in the vicinity of machinery or loudspeakers
• Never use the product immediately after moving it from a cold room into a warm one. The condensation
that forms might damage the product. The wall plug transformer also poses a risk for a potentially fatal
electric shock!
Allow the product to reach room temperature before connecting it to the power supply and putting it to use.
This may take several hours.
• When setting up the product, make sure that the cables are neither kinked nor pinched.
• Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows or falls even from a low height.
Version 12/14
Connection and Start-Up
• Choose an appropriate installation site for the audio converter. When installing the audio converter, protect
sensitive furniture surfaces from scratches, stains or dents using a suitable pad.
• First switch off all devices to be connected to the audio converter.
• Connect the two cinch connectors, marked “AUDIO OUT“, with the analogue audio input of e.g. an ampli-
fier.
Red cinch = right stereo signal (“R“)
White cinch = left stereo signal (“L“)
• Available as digital audio input an optical Toslink socket (marked on the housing of the audio converter with
“OPTICAL IN) and an electronic coaxial input (“COAXIAL IN“). Connect these with the displaying device.
You can switch between the two inputs using a lateral sliding switch.
• Connect the corresponding round plug of the audio converter to the round low-voltage socket; plug the wall
plug transformer into a standard mains socket.
If mains voltage is available the LED on top of the audio converter flashes to indicate readiness.
• Start the playback device so that a suitable signal is applied to the digital audio input of the audio converter.
Then choose the correct analogue audio input e.g. on the amplifier.
Troubleshooting
No sound audible
• Select the correct input (“COAXIAL IN“ or ”OPTICAL IN“) on the audio converter.
• Test the cable / plug connections. Replace damaged cables.
• Only connect the output of the audio converter (analogue signal, line level) to an analogue audio input with
line level (e.g. input “AUX-IN“ of an amplifier).
• Check whether the digital output of your displaying device is selected/activated and the correct digital
audio signal is provided.
Maintenance and Cleaning
The product does not require any maintenance and should never be disassembled for any reason.
Any maintenance or repair work may only be performed by an expert.
Before cleaning the product, disconnect it from the mains voltage, unplug the power adapter from the socket.
Use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, as these can cause discol-
ouration. Do not press too strongly on the surface when cleaning, to prevent scratch marks.
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, long-haired brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Disposal
The product must not be disposed of in the household waste.
Dispose of the product at the end of its serviceable life in accordance with the current statutory
requirements; e.g., return it to any suitable collection point.
