Appendix B: Factory Settings
Factory Settings
The Wizard 2.0 controller is designed to be configurable for use in virtually all freeze-
drying systems. Certain parameters must be set prior to operating the freeze dryer.
These parameters are located in the Factory Settings menu (See Maintenance
Settings).
Note:
Modifying the factory settings may result in damage not covered by your Warranty. Only
a qualified SP Industries Technician, or designee, should modify the configurations in the
Factory Settings menu.
Parameter
Description
N Product in Avg 2, 4, 8
Sets the average number of product probes. This number appears on the
synoptic screen. Use the numeric keypad to enter the number of product
thermocouple probes used (2, 4 or 8).
N Vacuum Probes
Sets the number of vacuum probes used in the system (1 or 2). Use the
numeric keypad to enter a value.
Defrost
Ad=1 El=2 Hg=3
Sets the freeze dryer’s defrost system. Selecting
Ad
means that the shelf
heats using refrigerant and defrosts the condenser by radiant heat.
Selecting
El
means that the condenser is defrosted by a dedicated electric
heater, but has additional piping. Selecting
Hg
means that the condenser is
defrosted by Hot Gas refrigerant circulated within the condenser. Refer to
your freeze dryer operator’s manual for proper setup.
Vacuum Control
0=Bleed 1=Save
Sets the vacuum level control method.
Bleed allows the VLC valve to introduce air or gas into the system and
maintain vacuum within tight tolerances.
Save allows the vacuum pump to pull down to the setpoint minus the
Power Save Deadband ± tolerance. The vacuum pump then leaks back up
to the setpoint plus the Power Save Deadband ± tolerance.
Power Save Deadband
Sets the amount of variance allowed above and below the vacuum
setpoint. Vacuum control method must be set to Save.
Purge Option?
1=Yes
Enables the optional vacuum pump purge valve function. Setting this to 1
adds the Purge option settings to the Configuration menu.
WARNING!
YOUR SYSTEM HAS BEEN PRECONFIGURED FOR NORMAL OPERATION. IMPROPER
SETTINGS CAN DECREASE SYSTEM PERFORMANCE AND DAMAGE YOUR UNIT. USE EXTREME
CAUTION WHEN MODIFYING FACTORY SETTINGS. RECORD DEFAULT VALUES SO YOU CAN RESET
TO FACTORY SETTINGS.
