18. Return to the front of your SoulPad and position the next two guy lines along from where you left off and
on both sides (working methodically in either a clockwise or anti-clockwise position).
19. Return to the back of your SoulPad and peg out the two guy lines opposite to those in the step above.
Repeat this process until all of the remaining guy lines are in position, always following the line of the seams
at all times.
20. Now in the same order that you pegged out the guy lines, adjust the slides on the guy lines to take up
the slack with even tension. Get the canvas nice and taught without stressing any of the components. The
best way to do this is to hold and pull the canvas loop where the guy line is attached to the SoulPad (noting
its affect on the SoulPad’s walls), and take up the slack by re-positioning the slide. You will see the walls
begin to relocate more vertically and neatly at this stage.
NB: Too much tension or the incorrect positioning of the wall loops may cause the wall to crease.
Return To The Peg Loops
21.
Now you can push in the pegs at the base of the walls (don’t worry if they don’t go all the way into the
ground) In doing this you will notice any remaining slack in the canvas will disperse, giving the SoulPad a
good shape.
Some of the peg loops may need to be repositioned slightly so that the peg loop isn’t at an odd
angle.
22. Now go back inside the tent and tuck the mudguard under the groundsheet around the entire
circumference. This is to ensure zero penetration of water when it rains.
To do this you will need to remove each of the lightly pegged in pin pegs from the groundsheet (in turn),
push the mudguard underneath, *then drive the pin peg back into the ground through the corresponding
eyelets on the mudguard and groundsheet. There is no need to drive the pin peg all the way into the ground.
It is better to leave some of it exposed for ease of de-camping later.
Well done, Job done! Cup of tea anyone?
*If you are struggling to line up the corresponding eyelets in a satisfactory manner you may need to adjust
the position of the canvas loops at the base of the walls on the outside of your SoulPad. If after further
adjustment you are still struggling to achieve a satisfactory finish, you may wish to consider an alternative
method next time you pitch the tent, as follows: -
Please note, this method should not be selected during adverse, windy weather conditions due to some risk
of the mudguard eyelets being over-stressed and likely to fail when the central pole is inserted.
a) Follow the instructions above 1- 2.
b) Then, find either side of the entrance and using the pin pegs, find the eyelet on the groundsheet
and push a peg through it and the eyelet on the mudguard. Be sure to have it positioned so that
the groundsheet is on top of the mudguard. Carefully tap the pin peg into the ground. Complete this
process around the entire circumference working methodically in either a clockwise or anti-
clockwise direction, being sure not to miss any.
c) Now lightly peg out the canvas peg loops at the base of the walls and return to instruction 6 above
until the end.
